Donation Requests
As a locally owned business and community-focused venue, The Vanguard is proud to support the people and organizations that make Hampton Roads a better place to live, work, and play. We’re honored to receive many requests each year from nonprofits doing meaningful work, and we do our best to contribute where we can.
Due to the high volume of inquiries, we are unable to provide individual status updates or accept requests by phone or in person. Please note that submitting a request does not guarantee a donation.
Donation Request Guidelines:
All donation requests must be submitted at least six to eight (6 - 8) weeks before your event.
A completed Donation Request Form is required for consideration.
All requests are reviewed at the discretion of The Vanguard team.
The Vanguard only supports local organizations here in the Hampton Roads area.
The Vanguard only donates to organizations with current 501(c)(3) tax-exempt (NPO) status. All individuals, companies, groups and organizations requesting donations must be verified by using the IRS Tax Exempt Organization Search tool. Criteria for selecting donation recipients, including the requirement of being a registered non-profit organization will be According to the National Council of Nonprofits.
Each organization is limited to one request per 12-month period.
Typical donations can be Gift certificates redeemable at our venue, Merchandise for swag bags, food for the event or a discount on our private event space. NOTE: We do not provide cash donations. It is illegal to provide alcohol as a donation.
We are unable to fulfill requests for for-profit businesses, including staff appreciation or holiday functions.
As a producer of beer and spirits, we are required to comply with Virginia ABC regulations regarding charitable contributions and sponsorships.
Under 3VAC 5‑20‑100, Advertising; sponsorship of public events; restrictions and conditions: Distilleries, breweries, wineries, and other alcoholic beverage manufacturers are allowed to sponsor charitable or cultural events but not those featuring college or younger age groups. Sponsorships at events aimed at high school students or younger are strictly prohibited.
